The new Brembo production centre, belonging to the world leader in design, development and production of high performance brake systems for cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles, enables the group to better serve German, French, British and Italian client’s facilities in Central-Eastern Europe.

The official opening ceremony, which took place on Friday, the 14^th of October at theDabrowa Gornicza factory, was attended by Brembo President Alberto Bombassei, and representatives of Polish authorities, Italian authorities and international media.

“It is my pleasure to open this new factory in Poland, which reinforces our presence in a country that is becoming the geographical center of the automotive industry in Europe. Our company celebrates its 50^th anniversary this year with strong positive financial results – said Alberto Bombassei, President of Brembo. As part of our continuous effort to better serve our clients with an international footprint and a worldwide shopfloor presence, we continuously explore new potential investment opportunities, like this one which recognizes and values Poland’s engineering, manufacturing and technical skills”.

This new area requires investments for more than 100 million euros and is designed to fully integrate all the phases of the production value chain, from the receiving of raw materials to the shipping of the completed product.

It doubles the previous factory and now is based on a90,000 square metersarea. The new plant will employ 1200 people and thanks to 39 production lines and two foundries will double the production capacity.

The new Brembo plants at Dabrowa have been designed and built in accordance with the very latest criteria to guarantee quality, efficiency and care for the environment, with a view to minimizing waste and maximizing the recovery of energy. A few examples:

• Heat generated in the process of cooling the furnaces is reused to provide space heating
• Recycled foundry sands are “washed” using an advanced system allowing recovery of the bentonite content
• The filtration system for the furnaces is among the most innovative in the world
• The quality of parts produced is guaranteed by vision systems, by shot-blasting machines differentiated according to weight and size, and by automatic checks on moulds and flasks.

Brembo is present inPolandwith 2 production sites. The first one was opened in1995 inCzestochowato produce OE brake systems for commercial vehicles. Since 2003, Brembo has also been operating from a second Polish site inDabrowa Gorniczawhich at the beginning was a disc machining facility. In 2006 an empowerment of the plant was put in place, with a new cast iron foundry added. The client portfolio of Brembo’s Polish business now includes: Audi, BMW, Daimler, Fiat, Ford, Land Rover, PSA, Volvo, Iveco and Schmitz Cargo Bull.

Il nuovo centro produttivo permetterà a Brembo di fornire meglio gli stabilimenti dei clienti tedeschi, francesi e inglesi in tutta Europa Centro-Orientale.

Alla cerimonia ufficiale d’inaugurazione, tenutasi venerdì 14 ottobre presso lo stabilimento di Dabrowa Gornicza, hanno assistito Alberto Bombassei, Presidente di Brembo, i rappresentanti delle autorità italiane e polacche e i mezzi di comunicazione internazionali.

“È con grande piacere che inauguro questo nuovo stabilimento in Polonia, grazie al quale si rafforza la nostra presenza in un Paese che sta diventando sempre più il centro geografico della produzione dell’industria automotive europea”, ha dichiarato Alberto Bombassei, Presidente di Brembo. “Come parte del nostro continuo sforzo per soddisfare i nostri clienti internazionali lì dove questi producono, continuiamo ad esplorare potenziali opportunità di investimento che, come questa, riconoscono e valorizzano le capacità tecniche, di progettazione e di produzione.”

L’area ha richiesto investimenti per oltre 100 milioni di euro ed è stata progettata per integrare tutte le fasi produttive della catena del valore, dall’arrivo delle materie prime, alla spedizione dei prodotti finiti. Il nuovo polo, che occupa una superficie coperta di 90 mila mq (doppia rispetto a quello precedente), darà lavoro a 1200 persone e, grazie a 39 linee produttive e due fonderie, raddoppierà la capacità di produzione.

I nuovi stabilimenti sono stati realizzati secondo i criteri più avanzati per garantire qualità, efficienza e tutela ambientale, nell’ottica di minimizzare gli sprechi e massimizzare il recupero energetico. Ecco alcuni esempi:

• Il calore proveniente dal raffreddamento dei forni viene riutilizzato per il riscaldamento delle strutture
• Le sabbie di ricircolo vengono “lavate” con un sistema avanzato e la bentonite viene recuperata
• Il sistema di filtraggio dei forni è tra i più avanzati al mondo
• La qualità dei pezzi viene garantita da sistemi di visione, da granigliatrici differenziate a seconda del peso e della dimensione, da controlli automatici su staffe e motte.

Brembo è presente in Polonia con due siti produttivi. Il primo è stato aperto nel1995 aCzestochowa per la produzione di impianti frenanti di primo equipaggiamento per veicoli commerciali. Dal 2003 Brembo ha anche aperto un secondo impianto a Dabrowa Gornicza per la produzione di dischi freno. Nel 2006 questo impianto è stato potenziato, con l’apertura di una fonderia. Il portafoglio clienti di Brembo in Polonia oggi comprende: Audi, BMW, Daimler, Fiat, Ford, Land Rover, PSA, Volvo, Iveco e Schmitz Cargo Bull.
